Morristown is renowned for its deep volunteer spirit. Our volunteer firemen and women answer between 500 and 700 emergency calls each year and our volunteers create festivals and events that shine a light on local artists, musicians, and crafts almost every weekend during the Summer season.

The Spring Art Festival at the Red Barn Preserve is organized by the Gateway Museum. Scheduled for th last Saturday in May, it has become the official kick-off for Summer on the River. Bring the whole family to meet renowned artists, hike the trails, listen to a great band, and try your hand at producing a work of art.
Mare's Wares Art Fest: A force of nature, Mary Ann Evans organizes the largest art festival in the area. It appeals to an audience of all ages from both sides of the border. The event is always scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. on July 1st. The day-long event incorporates live music, children's activities, and educational demonstrations as well as a variety of high quality work from well-known and well-respected artisans from the North Country and beyond – and it’s FREE!
Morristown's Volunteer Fire Department and Auxilliary produces one of the largest festivals in the region starting with July 3rd fireworks at sunset. These fireworks draw thousands from all around the region. Then, at 10 a.m. on the 4th, Morristown celebrates with a parade followed by activities at the Fire Station, and a Car Show and Craft Fair on the Ballfield.
Plein Air Festival: Organized by Morristown's Public Library, this exciting event originated several years ago from Library Director Bridget Whalen-Nevin who so loved Morristown's natural beauty that she imagined paintings of its sights hanging in homes around the world. Today, hundreds of paintaings created by artists have made her vision come true. You'll enjoy visiting with artists, a book sale, music, and the final sale of paintings, usually held at Bella-Brooke Winery. Generally held the first weekend in August.
Haunted Trails and Pumpkin Carving Festival: Organized by the Gateway Museum and held in October at th Red Barn Preserve, this is Morristown's fall festival. Bring the kiddos to carve pumpkins and weekend evenings, walk the Haunted Trails. Local teens make this a truly frightening experience!
River Lights is a December-January celebration of light and the holidays. The Morristown Promotions Council brings in the largest holiday light displays in our area. On opening night, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the Grinch. Load the kids into a train or wagon. Enjoy a slice of pizza and some hot chocolate around a huge bonfire. Dance to music from an amazing DJ. The light stay up until Mid-January for carloads of families to enjoy.
